    • Ravens rookie LB Kindle narcoleptic?

Sergio KindleBaltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle(notes) recently fell down two flights of stairs late one night in Austin, Texas, and fractured his skull. His former coach at the University of Texas, Mack Brown, is saying that Kindle has narcolepsy, according to OrangeBloods.com.

The York Post has it that Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome and director of college scouting Eric DeCosta, "seemed amused when asked about the reports that Kindle takes medication for narcolepsy and ADD."

"If it was a concern, we probably wouldn't have drafted him," DeCosta said.

    • Titans QB Young not facing penalty

Vince YoungTennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young(notes) didn't need the bad publicity but he brought it upon himself when he threw a few punches at a strip-club employee last month in Austin, Texas, and the whole thing was perfectly captured on a security tape that somehow made its way to the Internet. Hey, the guy had disrespected his alma mater, the University of Texas.

But at least he's not going to face any kind of punishment for the event from the league, according to the Tennessean. Multiple sources "familiar with the situation" tell the paper that Young was never really that close to being suspended.

The announcement is expected to be made sometime today, the paper reports.

    • Haynesworth to seek out Shanahan

Albert HaynesworthWashington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth(notes) has turned most his teammates against him this summer in his very public desire to leave the team and work out on his own rather than show up to any team-oriented activity.

But now it looks like he wants to stay, and the 29-year-old doesn't want to lose any of his $21 million bonus. ESPN Radio is reporting that Haynesworth will be getting to training camp early Wednesday to try to talk with coach Mike Shanahan and smooth things out.

The nine-year veteran spent the first seven years of his career with the Tennessee Titans before signing a seven-year, $100 million deal with Washington on the first day of free agency last year. He played 12 games with the Redskins last season. Haynesworth has lost more than 40 pounds and is "definitely in good shape," ESPN reports.

It should be interesting to see how his teammates treat him.

    • Bills LB Schobel 'leaning' toward returning, not retiring?

Aaron SchobelBuffalo Bills outside linebacker Aaron Schobel(notes) can't get enough of the NFL life. The two-time Pro Bowler is "leaning more toward playing" this season than he was four weeks ago when it appeared that he would be retiring, according to WKBW 7 Buffalo.

The 32-year-old, who has 483 tackles and 78 sacks since being drafted by the Bills in 2001, hasn't talked to the team in the last month but will decide what he wants to do in the next month, the station reports.

Ten days would allow Schobel to miss out on some of those grueling early practices in training camp.

    • Rams and No. 1 pick Bradford nearing deal

Sam BradfordThe St. Louis Rams start camp on Thursday and FOX Sports is reporting that there is a "really good chance" that No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford(notes) will be under contract by then.

The site reports that the deal for the former Oklahoma quarterback is for six years and will guarantee him between $45 million and $50 million.

In training camp, Bradford will compete with veteran A.J. Feeley(notes) for the starting quarterback position.

Rams general manager Billy Devaney is sounding pretty happy with his pick after watching him in offseason workouts: "He looks like he's unflappable," Devaney told the site. "He doesn't get too high or low. He's a smart guy. Being a great player means something to him. What really jumped out is that he's got a tremendous respect for the NFL and his peers. He doesn't put himself like the first pick in the draft."

    • Brady and Patriots getting closer to deal?

Tom BradyNew England Patriots quarterback and poster boy Tom Brady(notes), who has one year left on his contract, and the Patriots have been negotiating a long-term contract extension.

ESPN is reporting that a deal between Brady and the Pats could be reached this summer. ESPN sources say the "ongoing dialogue" is "positive" and that a deal is "within reach."

If a deal can't be struck, it will be primarily because of the complexity of the contract and the unknown specifics of the next NFL collective bargaining agreement, according to ESPN.

The 32-year-old five-time Pro Bowler showed up for training camp Sunday along with the rookies to start their quest for a fourth Super Bowl win during his tenure.

    • Vikings' Peterson showing up for camp

Adrian PetersonWhile the world continues to wonder if 40-year-old Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre(notes) is going to decide that his ankle feels OK enough for him to return to the playing field or not, another Vikings player wants everybody to know that he's coming back.

Running back Adrian Peterson has been said to be unhappy about his contract status but the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that he "seemed somewhat annoyed" about being called somewhat annoyed and that he plans to play some football for the approximately $6.5 million he's due this season. Peterson tells the paper he'll be at camp and isn't holding out.

But the paper also notes that the agent for the man who gained 1,383 yards in 314 carries and scored 18 touchdowns for the Vikes last year has had some discussions with the teams about a new deal.

    • Favre not working on any deadline for decision to return

Brett FavreWith the Minnesota Vikings opening training camp next week, the indecisive Brett Favre(notes) still can't say if he's going to show up for the season or not. And, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, he has no deadline or timeline to make his decision.

Favre hung out with his coach, Brad Childress, on Monday in Favre's Mississippi hometown of Hattiesburg, but the pair didn't discuss when Favre would be ready to make his decision, the paper reports.

"The deadline? I don't know,'' Favre said Tuesday. "There obviously comes a point where you've probably gone too far, where you just have to move on. He hopes I make the right decision for myself — one way or the other."

Favre still wants to play in what will be his 20th season but is waiting to see how his surgically repaired left ankle feels. "After almost nine weeks, it's not where I would like it to be, but I'm working at it,'' Favre said. "Maybe it never gets to where I want it to be. Forty years old ... three surgeries ... that's all you need to know."

Well, actually, Vikings fans would like to know one more thing, Brett: Are you going to play or not?

    • Bengals' Benson and Goodell to meet Thursday

Cedric BensonCincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson(notes) will take a seat in NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's office Thursday to discuss his recent arrest, according to ProFootballWeekly.

The police in Austin, Texas, are saying that Benson punched a bartender outside of Annie's West in May. He was charged for the incident on June 29.

ProFootballWeekly reports that Bengals coach Marvin Lewis doesn't think Benson will get punished for the incident, but the world will likely find out sometime Thursday after meeting with Goodell.

Benson's lawyer David Cornwell explained what happened in a release: "Cedric Benson was asked to take pictures with some female fans. A man approached Cedric and objected to him posing for pictures with the women. Cedric explained that he had been asked to pose with the women and the man punched Cedric. An altercation followed and while Cedric was leaving the club, he was approached by another man aggressively. Believing this man was a friend of the man who had punched him, Cedric attempted to protect himself and continued out of the club. Immediately upon leaving the club, Cedric called the police. He was interviewed by the police and left the area."

Benson, 27, rushed for 1,251 yards and six touchdowns last year.

Chad OchocincoCincinnati wide receiver Chad Ochocinco(notes) has a fund set aside for potential NFL fines and he's willing to hand some of it over to New York Jets' Darrelle Revis(notes), who is threatening to hold out in order to become the league's highest-paid cornerback, according to the New York Post.

"Dude, im stupid excited for the season, don't hold out, you can have some of my fine fund money i set aside, let's have fun!" Ochocinco Tweeted to Revis.
